Philadelphia Flyers
R.J. Umberger
Submitted by J Status on December 12, 2007 - 1:41am.Ummmberger? Yeah, RJ did some major scoring in the Flyers 8-2 shellacking of the Penguins Tuesday night. He had a hat trick and five, yes five, points in the game. Perhaps this former 1st round draft choice can turn into a serviceable 60-point player after all. He has had a decent season so far anyway, and this latest breakout has just gotten him onto a lot of fantasy teams. With six points, you may have thought Lupul would be the headliner. Really, his breakout was just an embellished version of the streaky play we are used to seeing from Lupul. We all know he has ability. To me, Umberger is the more interesting player; he has a little lower profile and is more widely available.
Steve Downie
Submitted by J Status on December 5, 2007 - 8:50pm.Ya better duck! The headhunter is back on NHL ice! Downie makes his NHL regular season debut tonight. As we all know, Downie received a 20-game suspension for his hit to the head of Dean McAmmond before the season began. Now he is back, and a great sleeper in many fantasy leagues. He is a potential Carcillo in the making, except with even better point production. He may not receive the ice time yet, but he is definitely a guy to keep a close eye on.
Simon Gagne
Submitted by Hockeyinformer.com on November 28, 2007 - 1:12am.Gagne may need another month to recover from a concussion, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer. The original prognosis was that Gagne would need about one month to recover, but that due date is fast approaching and Gagne has only begun exercising. Keep the speedy winger reserved, perhaps until 2008.
Simon Gagne
Submitted by Hockeyinformer.com on October 28, 2007 - 1:01am.Gagne remains sidelined due to a concussion, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer & Daily News. While the winger says he feels much better, he also admitted that fatigue seems to set in later on in the day. As well, Gagne was not able to pass all levels of a baseline test that he took on Friday - a test that he must pass if he hopes to be cleared. Luckily, this doesn't appear to be a major or lingering issues and Gagne should be able to return to the lineup sometime next week.
