Edmonton Oilers
Sam Gagner
Submitted by J Status on February 24, 2008 - 4:17pm.The 2007 #6 overall pick now has 11 points over his current 8-game streak going into tonights game against Colorado. While most 18-year-olds are still playing in juniors, Gagner is charging up the list for rookie of the year candidates. With Horcoff out, he has proven that all he needed was the prime opportunity. He has outperformed even Hemsky during this steak, and his hockey sense is unmatched by most prospects his age. Though heavy on the assists, Sam looks to be a 90-point star in years to come.
Sheldon Souray
Submitted by Hockeyinformer on February 8, 2008 - 1:56am.Souray underwent arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder on Thursday, reports the AP. While an official diagnosis has not yet been released, it is expected that he will be sidelined for the remainder of the year but he'll be fully healthy for the start of next season. The 2007/2008 campaign has been an absolute disaster for the blueliner but he figures to be a top-20 option at the position next year - assuming that his injury woes are behind him.
Robert Nilsson
Submitted by J Status on December 12, 2007 - 9:35pm.Robert Nilsson is actually doing something. THANK GOODNESS. I made a very controversial move in one of my keeper leagues (if your in my league, you know it was bad haha) to acquire the enigma before the season. I knew it was really risky, but that keeps things exciting. Finally, Nilsson is proving to have some upside afterall. Consistency has consistently been his issue. Robert now has one point in each of his last seven games. For Nilsson, this is a much better sign than say, two games of four and three points... with none the rest of the seven. Keep it up Nilsson. Hemsky needs some more help on that team.
Mathieu Garon
Submitted by Hockeyinformer.com on November 11, 2007 - 2:14am.Garon stopped 37 of 39 shots to help the Oilers score a big victory over the Flames on Saturday, reports the AP. We originally predicted Garon to start tonight's game but switched on the basis of information via the official Oilers website. As it turns out, Garon did get the call and boy did he deliver. While Dwayne Roloson has played far from poor, Garon's strong play as of late will surely net him more starts and it's quite possible to expect a 60/40 split in Roloson's favor for the rest of the season.
Dwayne Roloson
Submitted by Hockeyinformer on October 5, 2007 - 12:06am.Roloson will start in approximately 50 games this season with Mathieu Garon starting in the remaining 32, reports the Edmonton Journal. The 37-year old Roloson continues to perform admirably in the latter stages of his career, but it's clear the Oilers are weary of him being able to play a full load hence the reason they went out and got the capable Garon. Roloson is a steady #3 in fantasy leagues whereas Garon should only be drafted for depth purposes.
