Paul Stastny
Submitted by Hockeyinformer on October 8, 2007 - 12:45am.Stastny record a goal and four assists on Sunday to help power the Avalanche to a 6-2 victory over the Sharks. The five points given Stastny an NHL leading eight points over the first three games. The second year pro enjoyed a fabulous rookie season in which he really turned it on over the final quarter and it's obvious that he's started exactly where he left off. Stastny is one of the league's brightest young stars and with the talent around him in Colorado, he has a very real possibility of topping 100 points.
Chris Drury
Submitted by Hockeyinformer on October 3, 2007 - 11:33pm.Drury will center Jaromir Jagr and Martin Straka on the team's first line to begin the season, reports the New York Post. This comes as a mild surprise as many observers figured it would be ex-Devil and crafty playmaker Scott Gomez who would get the nod as Jagr's center. Gomez, meanwhile, will center Brendan Shanahan and Sean Avery which isn't a bad situation by any means as a Gomez and Shanahan would serve as nice complements to one another. As far as fantasy values are concerned, bump up Drury on your lists as this arrangement should see him in the 80 point range with Gomez rated slightly higher in our books.
Sergei Fedorov
Submitted by Hockeyinformer on October 2, 2007 - 11:54pm.Fedorov has earned the right to center the Blue Jackets' #1 line with Rick Nash and David Vyborny, reports the Columbus Post-Dispatch. The 37-year Russian is well past his prime but becomes borderline fantasy worthy while being the team's top man down the middle. While his days of being a 100-point performer are well over, Fedorov can still contribute 50-60 points in the right circumstances. We would avoid him in fantasy leagues though.
