Steve Downie

Ya better duck! The headhunter is back on NHL ice! Downie makes his NHL regular season debut tonight. As we all know, Downie received a 20-game suspension for his hit to the head of Dean McAmmond before the season began. Now he is back, and a great sleeper in many fantasy leagues. He is a potential Carcillo in the making, except with even better point production. He may not receive the ice time yet, but he is definitely a guy to keep a close eye on.

Re: The league is all still nasty

Wow, what a rant. For events that happened in other seasons is irrelevant to what is going on this year, or last year. with the new league changes it's a different game and every team needs to adapt their play to adjust. I like the flyers, they were my "Flyer" pick for this year, and I went as far to pick Biron in the second or third round. What an opening to the season he had for me, but has fizzled lately, although I know his play will turn around and Philly will go on another run, hopefully in the near future when/if Gagne comes back, cause I have him too.

That being said, under the old rules, grudges and relaliatory actions weren't "headline news" but within the new league there is a focus on the cheap stuff and again, each team must adapt. I'm also not saying that any of these hits were meant to injure the other player, besides the Downie run on a blindsided McAmmond, who made Downie look silly earlier on in the game. That hit was brutal and the suspension was sufficient, the other hits were coincidental for the most part and not meant to injure, it just so happened that 4 of the other coincidentals, basically the only other ones in the league, happened to find the culprit wearing black and orange. Irony, maybe, a twist of fate for fans like you, perhaps, but in the end, perhaps a bit of undisciplined hockey.

They have a great team, hope all the players are back and playing well again, since I do like the flyers and own a lot in my pool, lol.
