Steve Downie

Ya better duck! The headhunter is back on NHL ice! Downie makes his NHL regular season debut tonight. As we all know, Downie received a 20-game suspension for his hit to the head of Dean McAmmond before the season began. Now he is back, and a great sleeper in many fantasy leagues. He is a potential Carcillo in the making, except with even better point production. He may not receive the ice time yet, but he is definitely a guy to keep a close eye on.

The league is all still nasty

Watching the Flyer's players lose their seasons to ridiculouly dirty teams like New Jersey has been a depressing bone of contention for years. Fans here were beginning to hate hockey. We would root at first only to lose our best guys during the season every year to obvious puroposeful runs and smashes to the brain and attacks with sticks. And the league not only didn't do anything about it, they encouraged it! They rewarded the perpetrators with accolades! Especially from teams from larger markets. The players were rendered semi comatose, unable to function for months or and entire year, or just had serious broken bodies. And, after letting this happen to us, the league and some criminal fans like this guy above here have the gaul to criticize OUR play now? Especially when that play, in reality, is just defending themselves from the same head hunting nasties that are still on most teams. When you see the Flyers do something, it's only in repsonse to something even worse just done to them. First, other teams assassinated the Flyers and laughed, now they accuse us of what they do. I think there is serious corruption in the reporting of this stuff to benefit the larger markets' money machines. If they can't beat Flyers or beat the Flyers up, they will lie and try to undermine us this way, like snippy little wimps...... GO FLYERS
