Straka, who broke a finger on his right hand blocking a Zdeno Chara shot from the point in Boston on Saturday, will be out an estimated four to five weeks, according to coach Tom Renney, reports the New York Newsday. Straka saw the doctor yesterday and it was decided that surgery won't be necessary.

mason vs ellis
Barry Trotz has said that mason is their guy, and that dan ellis has a long ways to go to prove he's a number 1 goaltender. Despite mason's "shortcomings" he's their guy and will have as many lives to prove it as lehtonen had last year, based on the fact that they signed him up for a few years and would look stupid if they give up on him right away. Personally i think dan ellis is the better goaltender, so keep a close eye on it, but don't be surprised to see mason getting the workload for this season's failure. They won't even make the playoffs.
