Gotta say it... Brodeur.

I'm sorry, but I just have to put this out there. Ya, Brodeur's a really good goalie, I'm not saying he isn't. What I am saying is that he's the most OVERRATED goalie in the NHL. Words are always tossed around about him being the best modern goalie, and some even go as far as saying he's the best goalie to ever play in the NHL. Those are really, REALLY high claims, but I never really hear anyone refute those comments.

His stats look really good, there's no denying that. In my opinion, a LOT of his success has come from the team (and especially the defence) in front of him. He's had some amazing players (Stevens, Niedermayer, Rafalski, Daneyko) to help him achieve these stats, and I personally think they deserve a lot more credit on the subject. Even the shutdown/trapping style of play that his team utilizes works to his advantage.

If he had played on a lesser team (or just a team that didn't play so defencively), I doubt he would achieve the same acclaim that he does today (well, not during the beginning of this season at least, heh).

Most OVERRATED? Brodeur's my pick.
